Washington Parks & People has been a strong impetus behind the reclamation and revitalization of one of DC’s most historic and memorable parks. Formerly Watts Branch Park, Marvin Gaye Park is the longest continuous city park and creek in DC. Since 2001 its decline from the previous decades has been turned around, cleaned up, and once again made a place for people to enjoy themselves and their community. TKF partnered with Washington Parks & People to include a sacred space of reflection within the park, including thoughtful landscaping that lends to quiet privacy and meditation. The revitalization of the park is still a work in progress, but huge strides have been made in the community reclamation of the park to restore it to the clean, safe, and green condition in which it began.
