Over the last two years St. Philip’s Church has worked with TKF and several other organizations to create the plans for the revitalization of the historic Anacostia 14th Street Community Park. They are now ready to move on to the next phases of implementation of the park, and TKF is again happy to be a partner in this next exciting phase. Along with TKF, St. Philip’s Church is partnering with Anacostia Garden Club, Casey Trees, DC Commission on the Arts, Green Spaces for DC, and Main Street Anacostia, and hopes to gain more partners with momentum from the TKF grant. Plans for the newly greened park include a meditative /reading area that would include the TKF bench and journal, a kiosk with community info, a welcome sign for the Anacostia Historic District, and a community stage to create a dynamic public space. In addition, the restored park has been designated the official 911 Memorial Site for Ward 8 which adds yet another layer of meaning to the space and story. Read more about the most recently issued TKF Challenge Grant in the News section.
