The
Northeast Interfaith Peace Garden was dedicated on June 11, 2000. Originally developed as a Labyrinth & Meditation Garden, it has since expanded to include a Sacred Writings Garden, dedicated to sharing the wisdom of the holy books of major world religions. This sacred space also includes a Garden of Forgiveness, a community space where individuals and groups can come to reflect on peace, reconciliation, and forgiveness. The Northeast Interfaith Peace Garden has been designated a Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation, and birds, bunnies, and butterflies are everywhere. A perennial garden invites visitors onto a steppingstone path of lavender, yarrow, heather, and other aromatic herbs and flowers. Benches surrounding the labyrinth walk provide pauses on the journey for those who wish to sit and rest awhile, as a fountain sounds peacefully in the background. A Peace Pole welcomes visitors to the Sacred Writings Garden, and Tibetan Peace Flags flutter overhead. The gardens and labyrinth are a sensory delight of sight, sound, touch, aroma, and movement. The Friends of the Northeast Interfaith Peace Garden has formed to promote the use of the labyrinth and gardens in the community, through year-round programming and events.
