Pauline's garden creates a very personal sacred space Inspire Me StoriesPauline of Arlington, VAMy sacred place is tucked into a corner of my backyard on a spot that is a little higher than the rest of the garden. A stone pathway built by one of my daughters leads me to the hammock which is surrounded on two sides by a lattice fence that screens the area from my neighbor's view making it a very private space. In the other direction I look out over my pond with its small waterfall and a spouting frog which I made myself out of clay. When I walk this stone pathway, I can feel myself making a transition into a quiet space within. The path leads me to the hammock where I can let go of everything that's on my mind. I'm at peace in the garden and I feel close to nature and to God. In the winter I enjoy my sacred space from my kitchen window. When it snows the rocks become a dominating element in the garden and I feel a sense of strength just looking at them. |
