Capstone Awards Initiative

National Demonstration Site and Research Challenge Award program is designed to support the creation of new Open Spaces Sacred Places to study the impact of nature on the human spirit. Open to qualified applicants from across the United States, this program is intended to inspire non-profit organizations, professional associations, educational institutions, municipalities and community-based groups from a range of perspectives to come together in interdisciplinary teams to create new public green spaces and to implement a significant research or evaluation component. The Capstone Awards have been created to advance public understanding and support of the benefits of nature to individual and community wellbeing.

Enrichment Program

TKF hopes to further deepen and broaden its commitment to existing Open Spaces Sacred Places and Firesouls with significant grants and support designed to insure the organizational, financial, and social long term sustainability and vitality of all Open Spaces Sacred Places.

In addition to grants made to support programmatic enhancements, audience building efforts, physical expansions and upgrades, capacity-building grants in such areas as fundraising, communications, board and staff development and management will be considered.

Community Greening

This program encourages community-based initiatives through small scale plantings of flowers, trees, shrubs, and foliage. It also supports the establishment of urban gardens and/or orchards including community sustainable agriculture.  Funding is available through direct grants to pre-approved public non-profits that support TKF's vision of community gardening initiatives.
